Srivatsa M R

I am Srivatsa. I am a Computational Scientist for work and a very curious person in general. I find so many things interesting that I feel life is too short to get good at all of them. One thing I can tell you for sure about myself is that I love deep and logical conversations. But there are only so many times my wife allows me to bother her with my understanding of René Descartes philosophy, or my take on Bayesian vs Frequentist approaches to probability theory, or my reasoning about why there are inherent differences in men and women from an evolutionary perspective. So here I am.

I imagine I am writing for myself from the future. When I learn about a new topic, I often find that I have to navigate multiple sources to bridge gaps in my understanding. I needed a way to record my learning journey and consolidate them. The hope is to document my current understanding of things I deeply care about and find interesting. I want to look back at them in the future to see how much my knowledge base has evolved. Maybe my understanding of things would have changed or I would just appreciate how many things I have explored over time.

I have named my blog Noesis to reflect my intent. Here is an AI overview of the word:

“Noesis (from Greek nóēsis) means intellection, thought, or understanding, referring to the act or faculty of pure, intuitive apprehension or direct grasping of truths, often transcending ordinary reasoning (discursive thought). In philosophy, it’s the highest intellectual activity, a form of spiritual insight or mental process for comprehending essential realities, contrasting with mere perception or belief, and relates to the mind”

See you around!
